A year after the well was installed, additional improvements were made. Using the income from their work with the medicines, they were able to finance the materials needed to store the water in reservoirs and then pipe it to the kitchen and bathroom.

Thanks to this system, not a single drop of water is wasted, and it is sufficient to run the generator just once a day to have the water they need for drinking, cooking and cleaning.

Now that water arrives directly where they need it, they have more time and energie to grow their own food and medicines; 8 different types bananas, cassava, papaya, pineapple, canna, corn, potato, yam, pumpkin and several medicinal plants

The investment in the waterwell did not only provided them with drinking water but also gave them more self-suficiency.

Cultivating to survive

Cultivating is new for the indigenous people. For years they lived from what the forrest provided. Nowadays the surface of the Amazonia is reduced a lot, and with that also the population of animals. So it became impossible for the tribes to survive without cultivating.

The next step in this proces to become independent will be fishfarming.

Every donation to Aliento will be invested in Aldeia Vari Vino. As always we assure that donations are entirely used for the goal and we check every project in person.
