The essence of kene can transform and change human life…
bringing good living to humanity.

Since their origins, and for thousands of years, the Noke Koi people have maintained, practised and strengthened their culture, passing on their ancestral knowledge from generation to generation to the present day, including their mother tongue, arts, beliefs, stories, myths, legends, spiritualities and other traditional customs.
Kene is one of the most appreciated by the tribe among all age groups, both men and women. There are several types of kene, and each one has its spiritual and material meaning for the Noke Koi indigenous people.
Kene is not just body paint that we use to decorate our bodies during cultural festivities or during a unifying ceremony. We use kene to protect ourselves and prevent diseases that can affect our bodies physically. It is also used to attract the spirits of Rono Romeya, so that they can manifest themselves spiritually in people, thus transforming a person into a shaman who performs healing prayers and sacred spiritual chants.
Manã Rono Kene is the painting of the Jiboia snake, and is one of the kene recommended by shamans to be used by people who are interested in having sacred spirits manifest themselves in people in the future, as mentioned above, transforming them into shamans. Therefore, kene is sacred to the tribe, as it has the spiritual power to make spirits manifest themselves in people. However, each kene has its own purpose in human life, bringing health, harmony, peace, happiness, brotherhood, and human consciousness with spirituality to the human body.
yours sincerely,
