The purposes of ancestral medicines

The purpose of ancestral medicine is to serve as a powerful tool
for changing human beings’ lives physically and spiritually,
aligned with the goal that people truly wish to achieve.

The Noke Koi have been using and practising their culture since its emergence to the present day, including their mother tongue, dance, body painting, festivals, communal meals, beliefs, ceramics, handicrafts, medicinal herbs, uniting, kambo and various other cultural practices.

This is how the Noke Koi culture has been practised. Traditional herbs are used to perform material and spiritual healing sessions on people from an early age, a ritual that is commonly used by the tribe to prevent disease and also to cure people’s illnesses.
The medicines are taken from the forest by the tribe’s elders to perform their rituals with the people. The most commonly used are unir and rapé by the shamans. They prepare unir and rapé to connect spiritually and perform their spiritual healing sessions on people. In this way, ancestral medicines and spirituality have been practised by the tribe.
Medicines and spiritualities have their purpose in every human life, as each herb has its own spirituality, just as the shamans have their own spiritualities. That is why the tribe has enormous respect for herbs and spirituality.

LET’S TAKE AN EXAMPLE OF A MEDICINE THAT CHANGES HUMAN LIVES

UNI is a sacred medicine of the Noke Koi people. Respect and responsibility are required from the very beginning, when UNI and KAWA are collected to be prepared. Before collecting them, one must take rapé to connect with the spirituality of UNI and KAWA, even before touching the medicines. After collecting the medicines, the sacred medicine is prepared with love and care.

At the time of the sacred ritual, before serving the people, the shaman performs a sacred spiritual prayer to be able to serve people. In prayer, the shaman makes his spiritual requests to our divine creator and our ancestors, to be blessed by them, and that people be protected from evil spirits.
When drinking the sacred beverage, people should make their requests to the spirits of nature that surround them and to the sacred beverage, asking for health, love, compassion, happiness, family unity, financial prosperity, and that all the obstacles they have previously faced in life be removed by the ancestral spirits and that all negative energy be removed from their material and spiritual body, and asking for a spiritual cleansing of their body.

By making these requests, the person will connect spiritually through sacred medicine, and the same will make a correction in their past life until the moment they are consecrated to the sacred drink. Spirituality will enable the person to stop practising wrong things and have a healthier and more dignified life, both materially and spiritually. Thus, if the person concentrates on medicine and the spirit that surrounds them. By concentrating on the medicine, it will provide spiritual guidance on how the person can observe and analyse humanity with harmony and peace, and how the person can have love for Mother Earth and nature. Where the person will feel the presence of the spiritualities that surround them, thus bringing the person material and spiritual well-being, such as peace and harmony with nature and with all humanity. Only through spiritual concentration with the medicine will people find love and peace in their hearts and enjoy Mother Earth without destroying and polluting her, for she offers and provides us with everything we need to survive in our daily lives.
Only in this way can we connect with our ancestors and our spiritualities, for they guide us correctly on how we can preserve and care for our nature, that is, our Mother Earth.
