Protecting Children of Life: Awareness Campaign
Project UpdateBetween 2022 and 2023, Aliento del Viento distributed informational flyers at public events and near schools in Italy to raise awareness about critical threats facing children today.
The Issues We Address
The campaign focused on three urgent topics:
Sexual Abuse
In 2022 alone, 2,820 minors were victims of sexual abuse in Italy—a 54% increase in cases occurring within educational institutions. The flyers provided warning signs and emergency contact information.
Missing Children
57% of missing minors are unaccompanied, vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation. The flyers highlighted the importance of the 116000 emergency hotline for missing children.
Digital Safety
Prolonged screen time affects brain development, especially in the first 28 years of life. Scientific recommendations suggest limiting device use to 1 hour daily for children aged 5-12 and 3 hours for adolescents.
Why Information Matters
Parents cannot protect children from dangers they don’t know exist. These flyers were designed to break the silence around issues that too often remain hidden.
